i-REXFO Business Model

i-REXFO is an innovative economic model, created to reduce food waste in a sustainable way through a reduction and recycling approach, which aims to integrate all those involved in the food cycle: production, distribution, consumption and end of life.

The economic model transforms the equation "leftovers = waste" into DONATIONS + RECYCLING = REDUCTION OF WASTE.

i-REXFO aims to reduce food surpluses through donation to charities and to enhance the recycling of food ,that is no longer edible, with the production of BIOGAS.

The model will be demonstrated in Umbria and exported to other European countries (Hungary).

The expected impact includes:

• the reduction of CO2 emissions;

• the increase in the production of renewable energy;

• the reduction of food waste.
