Tef Channel Speciale Università : the i-REXFO project

Francesco Fantozzi of the Engineering Department of the University of Perugia was interviewed on TEF Channel Speciale Università on 05/27/2021 and presented the i-REXFO Project.

i-REXFO proposes a development and circular business model to reduce food waste optimizing communication and integration between all the protagonists of the food cycle understood as production, distribution, use and end of life.

The Ing. Fantozzi presented the software developed as part of the project in collaboration with the Engineering Department of the University of Perugia. The Engineering department has analyzed over 100 types of food waste and tested how much methane, and therefore energy can produce any different type of expired food.

The Ing. Fantozzi then illustrates some of the activities carried out within the project: 100,000 doggy bags made by A + srl in collaboration with Regusto and distributed in the restaurants in Perugia and Terni that have joined the project, the digital reglette installed in the main supermarkets in the region, the activities carried out by the Caritas of Perugia and Terni such as the collection points for surplus food and the meetings held with Umbrian teachers and students to sensitize them to the problems of overdue food.
